Beyond Happiness in Beyond Harmony

I have a dream.. A song to sing..
When I was child, I have so many dreams. I was dreaming to be an International Relations student (the truth: on kindergarten, when everyone asked me where I will continue my college in the future? I answered International Relations), I was dreaming to be a singer, to be a designer, to travel along the world, to make friends as many as you count water, to be someone in dormitory, to be a good student, and so many dreams I dreamed. Some of them are on me right now.

I still don’t believe that I did my 1st concert with the amazing team called UNPAD Choir. In 29 April, we did a concert with a theme Beyond Harmony. It held on Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata at Universitas Padjadjaran, Dipati Ukur campus. I was in 3 of 4 sessions. There are Classic, International Folksong, Pop, and Indonesian Folksong. I didn’t join the classic one, because I failed to do my audition as I was sick at that time. Meanwhile, I cannot attend the practice because it’s on Tuesday and I have class until 4.30 p.m on Tuesday. Though there is additional practice, I am not sure I can run for it.

In international folksong, we sang The Three Fishers, Old Mac Donald, Dahil Sa Iyo, The Battle of Jericho, and Sesithi Bonga. Oh, if I’m not mistaken, in the D-1 the conductors, Kang Aldo, re-tested some of us to be the chamber choir (I don’t know what is chamber actually). So, the first song of this session only sang by some of the singers, include me. Following to my voice, he put me on the last line together with the seniors, there’s 2 others juniors from Alto 2 also. When I asked my senior why I put on the back? She said that the person on the back has heavy timbre and loud voice, so it would be covered the singers if s/he put in front. I see. The session of Kang Aldo received festal applause, moreover after we sang Old Mac Donald and The Battle of Jericho (my favorite one!)

In pop session, we have teh Miry as the conductors. We all sang Over the Rainbows, Firework (girls), It’s My Life/Confession (boys, glee cast), and When You Believe (Prince of Persia version). I remembered the applause for the boys after they sang It’s my life/Confession, they receive so many shout, especially from girls. -_- hahaha. In this session, we worked with Keluarga Paduan Angklung 3 (from SMAN 3 Bandung), and a band from Faculty of Economics, if I’m not mistaken. I love singing When You Believe, because it’s cute when the Sopranos sang, Ashira la donai kiga oh ga ah.. :3

The last session is Indonesian Folksong, conducted by Kang Yoga. He wore the traditional costume of Balinesse. We all wearing traditional costume, and I have the costume of Saman Dance with the basic color of PINK!!! YEAY! I was on the first line of choir because it’s time to dance!!! Hehehe. On practice time, I worked with Kang Dika, Teh Raiszya, and of course the others to arrange the dance. It is the most tiring part of all the sessions. But, it also become the one session with glorious appreciation. Oh! We sang Es Lillin (East Java), Walang Kekek (Java), Bungong Jeumpa (Aceh), and Yapo Mama Cica (Papua). The part I love the most? ALL!!!!!!! It’s so wonderful to sing and dance in all songs. But the greatest song comes to Yapo Mama Cica! :’) You should know, that this song required the longest time to practice, emotionally draining, physically training. To be honest, in the last days of practice when Kang Yoga chose the solois to sing and shout like a Papuan, I feel the mystic of the song. I feel like the God of Papuan comes and I was in Papua. So dreamy, but true. I felt it too when we were in concert. It creeps me out, but make me sing, no, shout independently.Woo!!!

I forget the first session, classic. The team sang Ben Sono I, Cantique de Jean Racine, Pie Jesu, and Carmina Burana (O Fortuna). The last song is so well known that you might often listened. The very last song is Kemenangan Hati, because there is someone who asked us to sing again and again and again. Hahaha. Lovely rights? I am so happy with this team.

After concert, we all hugs each other and say congratulation. From approximately 3 months practicing, I have learnt to be a good time manager for myself, to be a polite one, to appreciate all the things I have, to respect all the people surrounds me even it’s younger than me, to be a never ending learner because mistakes is on everyone, and of course, to live healthy by consuming healthy food.
